How to Convert MPG to MP4??

I am trying to convert mpg to mp4 files so I can edit them on my Mac and later make a dvd out of them. I have tried programs online such as format factory and hand break, but after converting the file the quality is always reduced. How can I convert the files, so that I can have at least the same quality that I have on the camera? Any good mpg mp4 converter out there?

Kvisoft provides very nice video converter for mac, free trial can be download from its website.
I used it as MPG to MP4 converter on my Macbook pro.

You can convert MPG to MP4 by 3 steps only:
1. Load your MPG files to converter.
2. Set MP4 as output format.
3. Start conversion by hitting Convert button.
